Capturing DVCPRO with Sony DSR 1500?

Hi.  Anyone ever managed to capture 25Mb DVCPRO to FCP 7 using a Sony DSR 1500AP DVCAM deck?   Sony Broadcast in the UK say this should work as the deck does produce a DVCPRO stream and the Sony deck does produce a clean video output to composite video and SDI outputs, BUT the video output to firewire (sorry i-Link) is scrambled although audio is OK.  I've captured DVCPRO ok from a Panasonic deck before now, but using the same system and capture settings and using the Sony deck I get scrambled pictures although capture from DVCAM is fine. There is a rumour that the Sony DSR1500 deck wouldn't firewire dvcpro but that the later 1500A would, although I can't get confirmation and I've got the 1500A deck anyway.   There's nothing to play with in the 1500 menu as far as I can see and I've set capture for DVCPRO 25Mb in FCP. Run out of ideas ....... anyone ........... BTW I normally use DVCAM and can't afford to buy additional DVCPRO deck which is why I'm taking this route.

Is the tape DVCPRO 25?  or DVCPRO 50?  There's a BIG difference.  DVCPRO 25 might play back on DVCAM decks...because 25 is the data rate of DV as well.  But DVCPRO 50 is a different animal entirely.  Much higher quality...on par with Digibeta.  And you cannot play that on a DVCAM deck at all...because it is a completely different format. RENT a Panasonic deck.
