Diagnostics on Airport

Post by Guest » Mon Jan 09, 2012 11:53 am

Hi, I'm having real issues with my airport connection. It connects for a while and then drops the connection and remains unstable for ages.It only stays connected if I'm in the same room as the wireless router. As soon as I move away the signal drops. My desktop iMac seems fine.   I've borrowed a friends macbook (she's upgraded to snow leopard) and her connection seems consistently stable so that would point to a fault with mine. How do I tell?  I'm on 10.4.11 on a macbook. Any help gratefully appreciated. Regards, C23

Hi, What's happened to the forums? There was a time when one question would get lots of helpful replies.  What can i do to get a reply? Regards, C23

Apple have a diagnostics DVD they can run, which tests all the hardware including the airport card. Have a look at this link you may already have it. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509

Hi Macky and Chris, Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will try to take it in to my local Apple shopand have them run the hardware diagnostic for me. Thanks again, C@£
